Writing & Exploration

I find that writing about what I’m doing in my classes or my home studio helps me understand what I’m working on and why. Writing helps me solve pedagogical challenges and constructions problems.

If you would like to learn more about my sculpture, my inspiration, my processes or what I think about in the studio, please visit my blog. I regularly post photos or videos of my work in the studio and write about my work and my exhibitions. I sometimes explain techniques or processes and share student work or write about my experiences in the classroom.

 Teaching

I run the ceramic studio at Yakima Valley College where I also teach online Art History classes or other studio or lecture classes in the art program. During the pandemic, I’ve also taught online studio classes.

Teaching is an important part of who I am. The process and experience of making art and the act and habit of teaching are completely interwoven in my life. I have been teaching ceramics and art classes, in some capacity, for close to two decades.
